ADJUST: Program Evolution
There is neither a perfect engagement program nor one that can be effective without continual review and upkeep.
Stakeholders and/or their interests will change through the pipeline life cycle. So, the commitment of operators to monitor program performance and evaluate the effectiveness of processes, efforts, and programs is essential. But that work— and efforts to build trust with stakeholders—may be wasted unless an operator takes the next step to adjust their program based on what they have learned.
RP 1185 requires operators to have a process to adjust their program to improve its effectiveness. By incorporating learnings throughout the engagement cycle, a program will mature over time alongside relationships with key stakeholders. Operators are also encouraged to share learnings and their leading practices with peers, and to discuss their learnings with stakeholders in an effort to continue building—and maintaining—trust.
